I love sweets but lately I've been craving all.the.salty.things. Like chips and...more chips. Seriously, why are potato chips so delicious? Side note: have you tried the sriracha chips from Trader Joe's? No? Ok, get your hands on them ASAP. #delicious
In my quest to combine sweet and salty into one ultimate snack, I made this Salted Cinnamon & Sugar Chex Mix. I took it to work for a long afternoon meeting, and my coworkers and I demolished it! It's addicting so be warned. It honestly tastes like Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and that is certainly not a bad thing.
This is really easy to make, which I always appreciate. It calls for basic ingredients; my favorite. You can easily tailor this and double the recipe or even cut it in half -- whatever suits you! Cashews would also be a delicious substitute for peanuts. Pretzel M&M's could even be a fantastic addition. Just sayin'.
Salted Cinnamon & Sugar Chex Mix
Adapted from Chocolate, Chocolate, and More
3 cups pretzel twists
2 cups Rice Chex
1 cup dry-roasted, unsalted peanuts
3 tablespoons butter, melted
3 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Cover a 9x13-inch jelly roll pan with a sheet of foil.
In a large bowl combine pretzels, chex, and peanuts. In a separate, small bowl, whisk together butter, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Pour butter mixture over dry ingredients. Stir well to fully and evenly coat the pretzel mixture in butter. Place on foil-lined pan.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, stirring halfway through. Let cool on pan then transfer to air-tight container. Enjoy!
