I always wanted to make homemade dog treats for Reyna, but for one reason or another, I never got around to doing so.
While we were showering her with love for her one-year adopt-iversary (which, honestly, was no different than any other day since she's absolutely spoiled!), I finally made her some dog treats. I had a leftover sweet potato and figured she'd like the flavor since she loves pumpkin.
I found a very basic biscuit recipe; these were SO easy to make! And with only three ingredients, I feel good giving these Reyna. She loves them! Next time I might add in a few teaspoons of peanut butter to add even more flavor.
Sweet Potato Dog Biscuits
Slightly Adapted From: My Baking Addiction
1 large sweet potato (1 1/2 cups), roasted and mashed
1 3/4 white whole wheat flour
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a medium bowl, whisk together the mashed sweet potato and egg. Stir in the flour. Dough will be thick (add a tablespoon of water to get things moving, if needed). Roll dough into balls - about a tablespoon in size. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and flatten to about 1/4-1/2 inch thick. Bake for 30 minutes; allow to cool on baking sheet. Store in an air-tight container in the fridge for up to two weeks.
Yield: 30 biscuits
