sunny saturday.

The Bay Area finally received some rain over the past few weeks (which is definitely a good thing because we needed it!), but I missed the sun and blue sky.

Yesterday, I got my fix! The sun was out, and goodness, the city was just gorgeous. We met friends down in Menlo Park for breakfast at Cafe Borrone -- a favorite of ours.

I sipped a delicious latte and enjoyed scrambled eggs with Niman Ranch ham and cheddar. Evan and I also split a blueberry scone, and it was perfectly buttery!

After an early-afternoon nap (because...hello, Saturday!), we headed out for a walk along the Embarcadero.

Beautiful, right?

The rest of my day was spent reading scholarship applications. I work for a scholarship program, and we're in the midst of our review process. We're narrowed the field down to 200 applicants and need to select 75 recipients by next week. Let me tell you, it's a very emotionally-exhausting process. We award scholarships to low-income students who have faced extreme challenges (like, insanely extreme challenges -- the injustice tears me apart inside). There are so many deserving students in San Francisco, and I just wish we could help them all.

Anyway, I hope you're enjoying your weekend!

  2. I want that latte, and I want that view!

Good luck narrowing down the candidates. That would be extremely hard!

    1. It's so tough...the hardest part is realizing that without our scholarship, some kids may be unable to attend college!
