Date Night at Panera

Holy moly, Christmas is next week! I can't even believe it. Although it certainly does feel like December...last week we had three holiday parties in six days. Happy holidays indeed!

After our whirlwind of social events, Evan and I took it easy on Sunday. We had a quiet date night at Panera where I enjoyed one of my all-time favorite soups: French Onion!

Panera holds a special place in my heart as it reminds me of college back in Nebraska. I loved meeting my mom there on her lunch break (and on those days when I didn't have class - man, I miss college!). We would always splurge and get one of the Panera shortbread cookies for dessert. Buttery, rich and...buttery again!

Can you believe I actually haven't been to a Panera since moving away from Nebraska 3 1/2 years ago? I'm very disappointed in myself!

Luckily, I had a gift card to use thanks to Panera & DailyBuzz Food, so all those fond memories came rushing back. The French Onion soup was just as good as I remembered - simple ingredients (and delicious croutons). I ordered the half & half combo and chose the Greek salad as my other half. I'm a sucker for salty feta and olives, what can I say?

Evan rolled with the tomato soup and a turkey, bacon and cheese sandwich.

Simple, quick and delicious. My kind of place!

Hope your week is off to a great start. Evan and I are wrapping Christmas gifts tonight, and I think I might be way too excited about the occasion.

I received a gift card and compensation to review my experience at Panera. As always, the opinions expressed in this blog post are my own.

  1. My kind of date night! I wanted to order this soup, too. I might have to go back and try it!!

  2. Mmm, I know it's a chain and all, but Panera is one of my favorite places to eat! I love all of the menu options, seasonal salads, etc. I've never tried the french onion soup but if you love it, I suppose I should!

  3. I have still never been to a Panera!
